Spa Start-up & Maintenance with Chlorine & Sparkle Clear
- ALWAYS ADD CHEMICALS WITH THE JETS ON LOW.
- Fill Tub to water level line. Remove one of the filters and insert the garden hose into the plumbing. By doing this, you remove all of the air pockets in the plumbing.
- Add Sparkle Clear Cartridge. The Sparkle Clear cartridge is a mineral purifier containing silver. It releases silver into the water and assists in keeping your water purified. It is to be placed in the filter area.
- Add pH balancer. Spa Sentry is a pH balancer and should be added (with the jets on) every water change AFTER the water has reached the set temperature. Within 15-20 minutes you will notice a slight ring around your tub. That’s normal. That’s all the “bad stuff” that was in your water. Wipe the ring off with a sponge or a towel.
- SANITIZE with Granulated Chlorine and Shock. When using granulated chlorine and shock, always alternate between the two. In other words, if you were to use the tub tonight, after exiting the tub, throw in a few (2-3) table spoons of chlorine. The next time you use the tub, after you get out, throw in a few (2-3) table spoons of shock. Then repeat the process. If you begin to smell chlorine, while using the tub, back the dosage off a little.
- If you are using enhanced shock forget about step number 5. After using the spa, throw in a cap of enhanced shock, turn the jets on, close the lid, and walk away. The jets will automatically cut off after 25 minutes.
- If you’re pH or alkalinity ever gets low just add 2 table spoons of baking soda to the water (with the jets on of course).
Remember to:
- Change your water every 3 to 4 months (more frequently if you have a high bathing load).
- Add Spa Sentry every water change.
- Clean your filter once a month using your garden hose.
- Replace your Sparkle Clear (yellow stick) every 3 to 4 months.
- Test your water weekly.
- Enjoy your spa when ever possible.
